Bathing is a whole different experience in India. People use these terracotta dealies to scrub their skin. Not a sudsy pampering experience.

It was not at all uncommon to see people bathing in water pumps at the side of the road. These clever girls took advantage of a leak in the pipeline that ran from reservoir to Jodhpur. I'm sure the pipelines just spontaneously spring leaks. After their baths people would pile mud onto the pipes to plug the leaks.
