Spent the day in Donald Judd Fantasy Land, a.k.a. the Chinati Foundation and the Judd Foundation. What I'm taking from the experience, in addition to a new appreciation for Dan Flavin's work and expanding love of Judd's, is a strong sense that this was a man with a challenging personality. (Or maybe a super control freak.) Regardless, it's clear he was a man with a strong vision and the means to realize it. Everything he touched seemed to have turned out beautiful (if spartan) and his eye for materials was pretty much infallible. Alas, I'm unable to post pictures of the art work or I'd have to shoot you, but I can share some pics of the site:
