These girls stopped us in the street and asked us to take their picture. We showed them the results and they giggled with delight. Our guides, who all made a special point to tell us how peacefully the Hindus and Muslims lived together in India, were also quick to point out Muslims and mosques to us as we passed them. Felt like a some-of-my-best-friends-are-Muslims sort of scenario. I just felt bad for the women wearing dark clothes. It's not bad enough that they're wearing several meters of fabric in the relatively cool 95 degree weather (someone actually told me, "it's a dry heat."), but to make it black and be sure their heads and (usually) faces are covered...I'm impressed that anyone can bear to walk outside.
